Shab-e-Barat will be observed in the provincial metropolis with religious zeal and fervour on Monday night during which the faithful would seek salvation from sins and resolve never to repeat them.
Shab-e-Barat is one of the most significant nights in the Islamic calendar amongst Lailatul Qadar, Shab-e-Miraj, Ashura and the two nights of the Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.
Special gatherings will be arranged in many mosques of the city where the faithful would worship the whole night and pray for forgiveness, salvation, safety, prosperity of the country and freedom from want. Traditional gatherings with religious zeal are held at the Data Darbar, Minhaj ul Quran Township, Jamia Naeemia, Jamia Ashrafia and other mosques.
Muslims will spend the night praying Nawaafil, reciting the Holy Quran, Durood Shareef, Istighfaar and Kalima Tayyibah.
Some Muslims believe that Allah Almighty writes destinies of His creations for the upcoming year during the holy night.
Muslims will also visit the graveyards as a Sunnah during the holy night of Shab-e-Barat to offer Fateha for the deceased. The faithful will also observe fasting on 15th of the Shaban (Tuesday) after spending the Shab-e-Barat in worship. According the police sources, special security arrangements have been made in the provincial metropolis for Shab-e-Barat.
All mosques under the Auqaf department will be illuminated on Shab-e-Barat.
Badshahi Mosque, Data Darbar Mosque, Masjid Wazir Khan, Hazrat Mian Mir Sahib Mosque and others will be decorated with colourful lights and flags, sources said on Sunday
